Where the world's highest mountain meets Sherpa culture
The Everest Region lies in northeastern Nepal, close to the Tibetan border, within the great arc of the Himalaya. Known locally as Khumbu, it is home to Mount Everest, deep river valleys, long glaciers, Buddhist monasteries, and villages built across some of the highest permanently inhabited land on Earth.
Travelers come for many reasons. Many hikers aim to stand at Everest Base Camp. Others hope to watch sunrise from Kala Patthar, walk beside the turquoise Gokyo Lakes, visit a working monastery, or see Everest from a helicopter. Even a shorter journey to Namche Bazaar reveals a landscape and culture found nowhere else.
Much of upper Khumbu lies inside Sagarmatha National Park, which UNESCO inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1979. The protected area brings together dramatic mountains, glaciers, deep valleys, rare wildlife, and long-established Sherpa communities. Everest may command the skyline, but local life gives the region its character.
Landscape Adventures helps travelers explore the Everest Himalaya at a sensible pace, whether the plan involves a classic trek, a quieter route, a luxury lodge journey, peak climbing, or a scenic flight. Good planning matters here, and every rewarding itinerary starts with enough time for the body to adjust to altitude.
