Trip Overview

The Ghorepani —Poon Hill Trek is one of Nepal’s most beloved short treks, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and Himalayan adventure—all within a week. Ideal for beginners, families, or those short on time, this trek takes you through lush rhododendron forests, charming hilltop villages, and terraced farmlands nestled beneath the mighty Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

The highlight of the journey is the early morning hike to Poon Hill —an iconic Himalayan viewpoint where the rising sun sets the snowcapped peaks ablaze with golden light. From here, the panoramic view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and a string of other giants is simply breathtaking.

As you move from village to village—Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk—you’ll not only experience the diversity of the landscape, but also the warmth and hospitality of the local Magar and Gurung communities. Their traditional stone houses, ancient customs, and warm smiles offer a meaningful cultural connection to the region.

With moderate walking hours, cozy teahouse accommodations, and soul-stirring mountain views, this trek is a deeply rewarding experience that captures the essence of the Himalayas without demanding extreme altitude or technical challenge.

Whether it’s the thrill of the climb, the serenity of the forests, or the magic of a Himalayan sunrise—this trek will leave you inspired, refreshed, and full of stories to share.

Full DayArrivalMeals Included
After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara along the scenic Prithvi Highway (approximately 6–7 hours). The road follows the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers, passing traditional villages, terraced rice fields and forested hillsides. On clear days you may glimpse distant Himalayan peaks along the way. Upon arrival in Pokhara, check into your lakeside hotel, then enjoy a relaxed evening stroll around Phewa Lake, taking in the serene atmosphere and mountain backdrop.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
Your trekking journey begins with a morning drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. From the trailhead, cross a small suspension bridge and follow the banks of the Modi Khola River, passing through vibrant farming settlements such as Birethanti and Tikhedhunga. Enjoy views of terraced fields, waterfalls and forested hills. The day’s final section is a demanding ascent of over 3,000 stone steps leading up to Ulleri, a traditional Magar village perched on a ridge. Settle into a cozy teahouse and unwind after your first day on the trail.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
Leave Ulleri after breakfast and continue ascending on a gentler gradient through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests, which are especially colorful in spring. The trail gradually gains altitude as you pass through small rest stops like Banthanti and Nangethanti, ideal for tea or snacks. By early afternoon, arrive at Ghorepani, a vibrant village set on a ridge below Poon Hill, with sweeping views of Annapurna South, Nilgiri and the Dhaulagiri range on clear days. Spend the evening exploring the village and preparing for the next morning’s sunrise hike.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
Wake up before dawn and hike up from Ghorepani to Poon Hill, a steep but short climb taking about an hour. From the viewpoint, enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panorama of the Himalayas as sunrise lights up Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and many surrounding peaks. After ample time for photos and soaking in the atmosphere, descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast. Then continue trekking through rhododendron forests and along ridge trails toward Tadapani, a small village nestled beneath towering mountains where you will spend the night in a teahouse.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
After breakfast, begin a mostly downhill trek from Tadapani toward the picturesque Gurung village of Ghandruk. The trail winds through lush rhododendron, fern and oak forests accompanied by birdsong and the sound of distant waterfalls. As you approach Ghandruk, the landscape opens up to reveal stone-paved lanes, traditional Gurung houses and strikingly close views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. In the afternoon, you can visit the Gurung Museum, explore the local monastery and interact with friendly villagers to learn more about their culture and way of life.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
Descend from Ghandruk on well-trodden trails through terraced farmlands and riverside settlements, gradually making your way back to Nayapul. After finishing the trek, meet your vehicle and drive back to Pokhara (about 1.5 hours). In the afternoon, enjoy a short sightseeing tour of Pokhara, visiting highlights such as Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave and the World Peace Pagoda, which offers beautiful views over Phewa Lake and the Annapurna range. Spend the evening relaxing by the lakeside or exploring local cafés and shops.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
After breakfast, depart Pokhara and retrace your route along the Prithvi Highway back to Kathmandu, a scenic 6–7 hour drive through river valleys, terraced fields and forested hills. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy a free evening to rest, shop for souvenirs in Thamel, or explore additional cultural sites at your own pace.
Full DayOvernight StayMeals Included
Depending on your flight time, enjoy some last-minute shopping or relaxation in Kathmandu. A Landscape Adventure representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport and assist with departure formalities. Before you leave, you will receive a personalized certificate of achievement and a small gift as a token of appreciation, along with lasting memories of your Himalayan journey.
